Lose Weight with Hypnosis

Over the past decade hypnosis has become a mainstream way of helping people cope with their mental issues, shortcomings and problem behaviours such as anxiety, depression and phobias. Yet what isn’t so commonly known is that hypnotherapy can also help with certain physical problems, such as addiction to smoking, impotence, low libido and obesity.

Using hypnosis to lose weight is a growing trend in the western world, with thousands of new patients each year visiting hypnosis professionals for their help. There’s not just one definitive way in which weight loss hypnosis works, either. In fact, there are three main techniques that hypnosis professionals and even hypnotherapy novices use to help their family, friends and clients to lose their extra pounds.

The first method is useful for those who overeat or eat the ‘wrong foods’ due to a past traumatic event. The method uses regression hypnosis so that the individual can look back on that event and see it from an adult or much more rational perspective and begin to work through it constructively. In removing the mental block and eradicating the worry and bad memories of that event the eating behaviour is usually turned around.

The second method by which hypnosis helps patients to lose weight is visualisation. Through imagining very vivid images of themselves before, during and after hypnosis the individual becomes much more receptive to the idea that losing weight is possible and the best thing to do. They see themselves as a lot slimmer and because they see it during hypnosis that thought is very real, leading them to find it easy to carry out whatever they need to do to get there.

The last of the methods used in weight loss hypnosis is subliminal messaging, used during a patient’s sleep the night before a session of hypnosis to make them even more receptive to the idea of weight loss. The patient takes home with them a recording of either their or their hypnotherapist’s voice telling them that losing weight is good, that exercise is good and that eating small portions/healthy food is easy. During the night the unconscious mind takes the ideas suggested in the recording on board and is already receptive to them when they are mentioned again during actual hypnosis.

Sometimes individuals will need to use a combination of two or all three of these methods to achieve the results that they want. In a matter of weeks they should notice that their diet and exercise behaviour has changed and they have started to lose weight. As a result hypnosis for weight loss has become one of the most popular forms of hypnosis sought out by UK and US citizens today.

It’s not just phobias and faulty thought processes that can be cured through hypnosis, as demonstrated by thousands of people who have turned their lives and their health around through weight loss hypnotherapy treatment.
